ZQuiet: ZQuiet
VitalSleep: VitalSleep
Suits
ZQuiet: mouth, jaw
VitalSleep: jaw
How it works
ZQuiet: A soft, hinged mouthpiece that holds the lower jaw slightly forward. Comes with two sizes so you can step up the jaw advancement gradually. No boil-and-bite moulding.
VitalSleep: Boil-and-bite mouthpiece with an adjustable jaw-advancement screw, so you can fine-tune how far forward the lower jaw sits.
Best for
ZQuiet: Mouth and jaw snorers who want something they can use the first night.
VitalSleep: Jaw snorers who want adjustability and a moulded fit.
Watch out
ZQuiet: The hinge lets your mouth open, so heavy mouth-breathers may still snore.
VitalSleep: Moulding takes a few minutes and a little patience to get right.

Both of these are mandibular advancement devices. They work the same basic way: by holding your lower jaw slightly forward while you sleep, they keep the back of your throat more open, so there's less soft tissue in the way to vibrate. If your snoring got quieter when you pushed your jaw forward during the self-test, either one is a reasonable place to start.

The real difference is fit and adjustment. ZQuiet is a soft, hinged mouthpiece that needs no moulding. It comes with two sizes in the box, so you can start with less jaw advancement and move up to more as you get used to it. The hinge lets your mouth move a little, which some people find more natural.

VitalSleep is a boil-and-bite design. You soften it in hot water and press it to your teeth so it takes their shape, and it has an adjustment mechanism that lets you change how far forward your lower jaw sits in small steps. That gives you more control, at the cost of a few minutes of setup and a little trial and error.

Which matters more depends on you. If you've never tried a mouthpiece and just want to find out whether the idea works, simplicity wins. If you already know jaw advancement helps, and want the most tailored fit you can get without a dentist, adjustability wins.

Whichever you choose, expect a week or two of getting used to it. Some jaw soreness and extra saliva in the first few mornings is common. Check each brand's website for its current trial period and warranty before you buy, so you can return it if it doesn't suit you.

Neither is the right choice if your snoring starts in your nose or tongue, if you have crowns, implants, loose teeth or jaw joint problems (check with a dentist first), or if you have any signs of sleep apnea.
