Oral appliances, available from dentists or over-the-counter, can help keep the airway open by repositioning the jaw or tongue. These devices can be effective for some people, but it's important to find one that fits comfortably and doesn't cause jaw pain.
If snoring persists despite trying these remedies, it's essential to consult a doctor. Persistent snoring can be a symptom of sleep apnea, a serious sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. A doctor can diagnose sleep apnea and recommend appropriate treatment options, such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.
